Saskatoon families choose between public, Catholic and Fransaskois schools. Saskatchewan is also bringing in new provincial assessments, so testing looks different from what many parents remember.

Schools follow the Saskatchewan curriculum. Ask your school when report cards come home this year, and share the latest one with your tutor at the start.
Grade 12 provincial exams ended in August 2025. The new Saskatchewan Student Assessment covers math in Grades 5 and 9 and English language arts in Grades 4, 7 and 10, phased in through 2028-29.
Saskatoon Public Schools has nearly 29,000 students in 48 elementary and 10 secondary schools. Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools had 23,009 students in 50 schools in fall 2024. The Conseil des écoles fransaskoises runs French-language schools.
At Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, children can start French Immersion in Kindergarten or Grade 1 with no French before. Fransaskois schools teach fully in French. Ask your school about entry points.
