Set your own rate and hours, and teach Vancouver families who want a certified teacher: online, at a student's home or at a Vancouver Public Library branch.

Certified in this province or another one? If your certificate is in good standing, you can apply. We verify every educator before they work with students.

Tip: use the same legal name on every document. It's the fastest way to approval.
One rule to know: don't tutor students you currently teach at school.
Every educator is checked before they meet a student. Here's what we ask for, why we ask, and what families can and can't see.
Parents never see your ID, email or home address. They see your photo, bio, certification, subjects and availability. For in-person lessons they see a general area, never your address.
Upload your ID through the platform only. We don't accept documents by email.

B.C. teachers are certified by the province under the Teachers Act, and the BC Teachers' Council sets the standards. A certified B.C. teacher meets these four requirements.
Four years (120 credits) of post-secondary study and a degree, plus an acceptable teacher education program.
Official sourceA criminal record check is part of the certification application. To tutor with Connect Education, you also need a police check that includes a vulnerable sector check.

You can still apply with a valid police check that includes a vulnerable sector check.

In person means at the student's home or at a public library. If you're not comfortable going to a family's home, you can choose the library. You pick the parts of Vancouver you'll travel to.
Vancouver Public Library has the Central Library and 20 neighborhood branches, and Wi-Fi is free at every branch during library hours. Check the branch's rules before you book a room.

Teach from wherever you work best, with no commute. Many teachers mix online and in-person lessons, and you can change what you offer in your profile at any time.
